The Shad are in the Columbia. Columbia River Summer Chinook opens June 21 and
the prospects are good with cooler than normal water temps. Fishing will improve
in the Clacamas by early next week for Kings & Steelhead. Deschutes Trout will
start feeding with a normal frequency next week. I am really stoked about the
upcoming fishing. Best of all the weather is supposed to get Normal. 70 deg days
oh boy

Deschutes Trout fishing and Columbia River Sturgeon have been getting all my
attention the last 2 weeks. Salmon fishing at Drano is good if you like combat
fishing and ill tempered anglers who for the most part look like they had to get
a loan to buy fuel to get there. Ugly crowd and an ugly fishery but the bite is
on if you like fishing in a large swimming pool. Not for me. We hope the
Columbia reopens to Salmon angling as scheduled. Years of angling for the late
run springers means lots of limits when it reopens and I can always find a place
to catch these prime Spring/Summer Chinook. Fly rod Trout fishing has been good
to excellent on the Deschutes. Where I am fishing we get several prime spots
that no else has fished for days. Did I mention that the strech I am fishing
holds the largest trout in the Deschutes ? Still some great dates and weekend
days left for the Salmon fly hatch on the Deschutes. These well educated Trout
get totally stupid for about 3 weeks. Easy Catching even for rookies. SS

A strong run of Summer Steelhead has entered the Clackamas. Deschutes Trout
fishing is OK but the water is a little cooler than normal. I have dates
available for Springers & Steelhead after April 15. Fishin fever is going strong
at my home. I feel better when on the water. Call. SEA YOU LATER !

Salmon are in the Willamette and Slough. Fishing is only fair. March Brown
hatches and BWO are providing very good angling on the Deschutes. I am off to
the Deschutes...see you there

Oregon & Washington have come to terms and the Columbia River Spring Chinook
Salmon Season has been set and I am taking reservations. The forecast is for an
excellent return of the hard fighting, firm and tasty Kings. Right NOW the still
waters are fishing like crazzy......March Browns are hatching in the rivers and
the bite has been ON. We have trips to lakes that hold Trout over 5 lbs.
Steelhead fishing in the Local rivers is nearing the peak for winter Steelhead
and a few Summer fish are being caught as well. The next really " good bet "
will be the " KEEPER STURGEON " on the Columbia. Book a trip in April for some
busy action. You won't be sitting in your chair for long. You will be "
yankin&acrankin ". The OVERSIZE STURGEON fishing gets into high gear in May and
continues into July. Book NOW and avoid the price hikes as fuel goes up. Fishing
trips are going to up in price...........Book NOW and save. Check the website
often and " catch " a special internet price.

Steelhead fishing in the Columbia has been improving daily. By the end of next
week I expect the Deschutes ( my home river) to begin putting out limits of
hatchery keepers. Gear anglers will do best in the early part of the season but
fly anglers will catch up and gain traction in August. It feels good to be back
in the "full fish mode ".

Tough floating conditions prevail as we need rain. Friday the Clack produced 3
steelhead on a half day float. All were hatchery keepers. The largest was a
surprising 22 Lbs. Limits are frequent on the Umpqua. Yes. I am headed
south......
